What Shapo offers that we don't

  • Unlimited widgets and forms, even on Free. Shapo's free plan includes unlimited widgets and forms. Our free plan has 1 wall in a grid layout, and Pro has 3.
  • Video testimonials. Shapo collects video testimonials on every plan. TryTestimonials only collects text.
  • Imports from other platforms. Shapo Pro imports reviews from more than 30 platforms. TryTestimonials has no imports. You add the ones you already have by hand.
  • Surveys and email invitations. Shapo adds surveys with AI insights, email campaigns to invite customers (500 a month on Pro) and a custom domain for your Wall of Love. TryTestimonials gives you a link and ready-made messages to send yourself.

Where TryTestimonials is better

  • A lower price. Pro is $19 a month, $10 less than Shapo Pro. Or pay $49 once for Lifetime (first 30 buyers), less than two months of Shapo Pro.
  • A free plan that keeps collecting. Shapo's free plan holds up to 10 testimonials. On ours you can collect as many as you like, and your site shows the 15 newest you've approved.
  • Written testimonials, done well. Because TryTestimonials only does written testimonials, the customer's side is one short form on their phone: three prompts, a box and a send button, with no camera, microphone or account. The prompts ask about the problem, the experience and the result, so you get specific quotes that visitors can skim in seconds and believe.
  • Less to learn for you. There are three steps: send a link, approve what comes back, paste two lines into your site. You get ready-made messages to send, a printable QR code, and step-by-step guides for WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, Webflow, Framer and Carrd. It's built for owners who don't want to learn a marketing tool.
  • Private and light. The widget sets no cookies, doesn't track the people who see it, and loads no web fonts or images, so it won't slow your pages down. Customers' IP addresses are only ever stored as a one-way hash, to stop spam.
  • A person answers your email. Write to george@trytestimonials.com and George Ryder, who builds TryTestimonials, replies. There's no ticket queue or chatbot in the way.

Questions

Can I bring my testimonials over from Shapo?

There's no automatic import. You can add testimonials you already have by hand, as long as the customer agreed to them being shared: up to 5 on the free plan, and as many as you like on Pro. They go straight onto your wall, marked “Added by you” in your inbox.

Why doesn't TryTestimonials do video?

Because we think a good written testimonial does the job better for most small businesses. It takes your customer a minute on their phone, where filming themselves takes nerve and retakes. Visitors can skim it in seconds, and a quote that names a real problem and result is easy to believe, while some visitors are wary of polished videos now that actors can be hired to record them. Leaving video out also keeps your widget tiny, so your pages stay fast. If video matters most to you, Shapo is a good choice.

Do I need a card to start?

No. Sign in with Google and you're on the free plan, for as long as you like. Upgrade only if you need more.

Shapo is a trademark of its owner. TryTestimonials isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Shapo. We've tried to be fair: if anything here is wrong or out of date, email george@trytestimonials.com and we'll correct it.
